This week was all about getting in touch with our wiki. Like the sound of the word itself, wikis are fun to talk about and work on. My group and I were successfully able to add multiple links to the wiki to share extra information on our webpage. My group is comprised of Matt, Brandon and myself. We plan on making a tutorial on powerpoint presentations in hope to aid Mrs. Lavery and her classes. With the aid of the newly discovered wiki this should be possible!

Once again, this week was focused on working on my websites. I have officially began working on it. I know what questions to as Mr. Vitelli and I can see where the project is headed. I want to be able to display the great feats our athletic department in general has accomplished and would like to gain support for it. Since athletics are so important to me, I feel that it can only benefit others. In a time when the board of education has begun focusing on the health of its students, I feel it is the opportune moment to display the need for more focus on athletics. I can only hope that my project will be beneficial to Mr. Vitelli.

This whole week was centered around usability and RSS feeds. An RSS feed shows what is written and added to the blog or website. I was lucky enough to find a blog that had to do with tennis. I added the RSS feed to my Google Reader account so that whenever there is a new update, I know about it. Already I have benefited from this option. The other day, being the tennis fanatic that I am, I was excited to see that Federer’s poor performance in the Australian Open was due to the fact he had fallen ill from Mononucleosis, or Mono. So, Federer’s reign is not yet over, the illness will only drag him on for a little while longer!

So, basically, I have discovered a whole new use of technology this week. I cannot wait to add more sites to my google reader and find new ways to use this program.

I have also officially found my project for the Online Communication course. I am excited to work with Mr. Vitelli to make a website for the Athletic Department. Since athletics is so important to me, I want everyone else to realize the benefits of having sports in our schools.

This week was mostly about learning how to make and use this blog. I learned mostly how to upload a video to this site. The video is meant to show how technology affects my life. Blogging has now become a part of my technology autobiography. It is useful for sharing information and spreading ideas or thoughts. I only hope that in this coming week I can learn more about how to make this blog more creative and appealing.

I am still learning about how to use the HTML codes and the RSS feedback that may aid my blog to evolve.

Basically, my process resembles the cartoon below.

I can only hope that I may “blog the blog.”

This week was all about learning how to create a website on the computer. Since I have never had a blog or created my own website, the entire idea was new to me. I did not know what to expect at all. Reading about the world wide web and how to use the world wide web language was something I had never done before. It’s like learning a new language.

The different types of programs and settings available on the web were each unique. I know that I still need time to fully understand and memorize the HTML codes, but I look forward to learning more about web language in the week that is to come. I hope I will be able to create a nice website with these new tools.
